Raised Terrace notes (From JB)

Here are some plans and an exterior sketch showing you what a raised terrace might look like on the back of the house.  Below are some comments:

1.       The advantages of raising the terrace will be a more natural connection between the terrace and the kitchen. 

2.       The terrace would be about 18” high – perfect seat height. - The terrace is that height or the stone wall? 

3.       The steps are captured in the thickness of the wall, so they don’t project out or cut into the terrace. 

4.       I would suggest bringing the lawn right up to the steps of the terrace on the garden side. 

5.       On the garage side of the terrace there is another set of stairs linking the garage door and the mudroom door to the terrace. 

6.       I am adding another gate next to the terrace to create a better connection with the terrace and the formal garden.

7.       The gas grill would go under the kitchen windows. 

8.       The screen of trees have been removed but there may still be a need for a single tree on the road side of the terrace to make the terrace feel more intimate.

PS Notes:  The window well will need to be filled in.  and downspout rerouted.

The cubbies are 18" wide and 60" tall each with a bench height of 18".  The closet is 36" wide 

Monday Meeting Notes for 12/10/12

1)      General overview and review of Kitchen and Master Bath Interiors. 
2)      Kitchen

• Review top of Island - Wood or stone Pete is going to review with Anne.  Leaning toward stone.  PS will supply images or samples of "Super White" granite

  Agreed on wainscoting option on description alone.  The panels will be similar to the cabinet doors.  The sample panel will be on site on Tuesday 12/11/12.

• Stair details and finish
  Stairs will have painted risers, skirts, balusters and newels.  The handrails and newel caps are to be stained.
